The Manager Research Analyst will play a key supporting role within the international Manager Research team, assisting in the evaluation, monitoring and selection of external investment managers across a broad range of asset classes. The role is ideal for someone looking to develop a strong foundational understanding of investment products, manager research processes and institutional portfolio construction.
The successful candidate will support the senior research team in all aspects of manager research. This includes conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of fund managers, preparing due diligence reports, maintaining internal databases and assisting the consulting team with client requests.
The role offers exposure to mainly (but not limited to) public market strategies across equities & fixed income with some exposure to alternatives.
A minimum of 3 working days in office is required.
Key Competencies, Skills and Attributes
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability.
- Experience with external fund managers.
- Clear and concise written communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Confluence (StyleAnalytics) and eVestment is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the research and due diligence process on prospective and existing external managers to maintain a buy list of best-in-class managers. This includes data collection, style analysis, performance analysis, and setting up meetings.
- Prepare and maintain due diligence reports, meeting notes, and research documentation in RisCura research systems.
- Assist with the production of deliverables including manager monitoring notes which include portfolio and performance updates.
- Maintain internal databases and research tools with up-to-date information on funds, managers, and strategy developments.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including client consultants, compliance and operations to support the implementation and oversight of recommended managers.
- Arrange and attend manager meetings (initially as an observer) and progressively take on greater responsibility.
