Communication Workshop with Patrick Cairns

Chad combines his knowledge of global current affairs and investment expertise to fulfil his role as head of investment research (South Africa) at RisCura. In this role, he works closely with RisCura’s Global Investment Committee where he presents various investment offerings to the committee while also leading the research process within South Africa. His passion for making a meaningful difference has also seen him play an integral role in formalising RisCura’s Manager Development Programme. The programme aims to help develop a more inclusive investment industry focusing on building capacity in local markets, supporting women-owned and managed investment managers and promoting skills development. Chad has previously worked as an accountant at State Street Southern Africa.

For over a decade, Patrick Cairns was one of South Africa’s most respected financial journalists. First at Moneyweb and later as editor of Citywire, he specialised in covering the local investment industry. In mid-2023 he left the media to start his own initiative called InvestConnect, consulting to asset managers on their communications strategies. He has worked with companies ranging from some of the country’s largest institutions to boutique firms to help make their communications both more effective and efficient, whether dealing with the media or important client markets.
